If you are an individual who tends to have average credit but you still would like an incentive program for purchasing airline tickets, you should look into the SkyPoints Credit Card from Delta and American Express.

Benefits of this card include earning double points on purchases at grocery stores, gas stations, drugstores, home improvement and hardware stores, the United States Postal Service, cell phone bills and purchases of Delta or Song tickets. Besides this you can also earn one point per dollar on any other kind of purchase. Another excellent advantage of the card is that you can earn up to 7,500 points after your first purchase. This means you can receive up to seventy-five percent on a $500 ticket, or the first $500 of the ticket price. SkyPoints are also available to be transferred to SkyMiles. These points won't expire as long as the account is active once every three years.

In addition to these benefits there is no annual fee for the first year. There is an 9.99% introductory APR on balance transfers. This rate can continue to be used until the balance is paid off on the transfer, as long as you submit the transfer when you apply. You can also receive up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance, roadside assistance, auto rental insurance and extended warranties for purchases.
